AI Cost-of-Delay Calculator

Show a client what waiting on AI actually costs. Turn a stalled decision into a number: the monthly and cumulative cost of delay, with a paste-ready exec line.

The opportunities on the table

3

Distinct opportunities the client could act on now.

Recurring value captured once each opportunity is live (savings or new revenue).

$
6

How long the client keeps deliberating before value is captured.

Every month of delay costs ~$30,000. A 6-month delay costs ~$180,000 before the first dollar of implementation spend.

This is the cost of doing nothing. To size the upside of acting, run the AI Project ROI Calculator.

Reframe the decision from cost of acting to cost of waiting

Stalled AI deals rarely stall on price. They stall because doing nothing feels free while acting has a visible cost. Cost of delay flips that: it puts a recurring dollar figure on inaction, so the client sees that waiting is not neutral, it is expensive. Every month of deliberation is value that never gets captured.

How the number is built

Monthly cost is the number of AI opportunities on the table multiplied by the monthly value each one would capture once live. Cumulative cost is that monthly figure multiplied by the adoption lag, the number of months the client keeps deliberating. The tool also shows a conservative estimate at half the cumulative total, so you can lead with the figure you can most easily defend in the room.

Who it is built for

  • Boutique AI consulting firms building the business case that moves a stalled decision.
  • Practice leads and principals who need a defensible loss figure before the next client conversation.
  • Sales and BD teams reframing objections from cost of acting to cost of waiting.
